Last night our club joined forces with the Blackwater Valley Rotary club at the Holiday Inn Farnborough, to hear a very motivating and inspirational talk given by Helene Raynsford, the young paralympian who has achieved so much in the last 8 years.
Helene spoke about her illness that left her disabled whilst at university, the challenges she faced up to, on the way to becoming a gold medal winner and she gave us a blow by blow account of how she was feeling as she won the gold medal race. Truly inspirational..
As I mentioned she was extremely candid and over 150 rotarians and rotoractors (younger rotarians) from other local clubs came to hear her talk.
Another great night out

Gil Puxley and I talked to the Manager at Prince’s mead about installing our Anniversary Clock and this has been received with enthusiasm, although there are some minor problems still to be overcome. I hope the clock will arrive next week and we can sort out these minor problems.
The anniversary Dinner is coming along well with 108 expected guests. Andrew Clark and I will talk with the catering Manager at the Golf Club in the coming week to organise the menu for the evening.
I will keep you informed as to future development of this event.
